“We have gone from strength to strength here in London and the UK, presenting high-profile industry speakers and organising great social events. Members have become regulars and use YPY to connect with the industry and catch up with friends.”

In the UK, Young Professionals in Yachting started in May 2015 and now counts more than 100 members in the City and across the country. Lucy's passion for the yachting industry began back in 2012 when she worked as a stewardess on both motor and sailing yachts. She left life at sea to pursue a career shore based in the industry and utilise her first hand experiences. Since 2013 Lucy has worked in both sales and charter and is currently a charter broker for Ocean Independence. Lucy’s other passion in life is skiing and last year was lucky enough to go on the YPY Monaco ski trip, a weekend away which she highly recommends!

Outside of work you can find Joost running or on his bike, competing in racing or training for big rides, such as the London to Monaco charity ride.
Risa grew up living on a sailboat with her family and travelling throughout The Bahamas. Boating is in her veins, and she loves being able to combine her passion for yachts and writing in her chosen career. She has been in the yachting industry since 2004, landing a job at a yachting magazine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida straight out of college and working for various publications. She is now a freelance yachting journalist and works closely with Boat International Media as a Contributing Editor and project manager. While living in Florida, Risa was a member of YPY USA and was intent on bringing the organisation to London when she moved across the pond. She believes in the power of personal connections to strengthen the industry as a whole and give younger members the knowledge and skills to catapult their careers. As the Founding President of YPY UK, she is incredibly proud to see how the chapter has grown and continues to evolve.
”“I wanted to write and thank you both for giving BLUE the opportunity to speak in front of your London YPY members last night. Both Clare and I really enjoyed the event. It was a fantastic opportunity to extend our reach out among a new audience in the superyacht industry.SJ SkinnerBlue Marine Foundation
I hope you were both pleased with how it went. It was wonderful to receive the questions we did and have the chance to talk about our work in such depth.”
”“I was extremely impressed with YPY in London. Their enthusiasm for the yachting industry and their professional approach in arranging insightful events for their members that focussed on increasing their members knowledge is impressive. It was a great opportunity to meet with the members and it is extremely encouraging to witness the drive to increase personal development in the yachting industry.”Richard LambertBurgess
